Our nocturnal neighbors are building a deck. They were out last night, with spotlights, digging the holes.

In other neighborly news, the people across from us are Indian. Their quirk is that they cook in the garage. There's an oven, cabinets, a countertop, and a little chair. I do know that Indian food is a little on the stinky side, but they're Indian - do they not like how their own food smells? Besides the kitchenette, there's a lawn mower in the garage and one trash can. And that's it. It's a 3 car garage and there's nothing it in. It blows my mind! Where's their stuff! The daughter got married over the weekend, so there was lots going on over there. I saw her before she got into the limo and she looked beautiful. Her sari was burnt orange and gold and she was wearing tons of gold jewelry. Very pretty in the sunlight.

Off to make a list for the grocery store. Anyone care to share what they're making for dinner tonight? In honor of the colder weather, I'm trying a new Chicken and Rice soup recipe.

  1. I have a ton of Indian friends and each of them have a kitchen in their basement with a industrial fan. I've asked them why and it's for resale purposes. They don't think that the next owners of the house would appreciate the house smelling like curry.

Also, as far as their "stuff", most Indians are minimalists. One set of our friends purchased a huge house 8 years ago - 4 bedrooms, formal dining - formal living - walk out basement with the added kitchen and full bath. It was just the two of them. They just recently started furnishing the place, but for 6 years or so, there was only a desk in one room, a couch in the family room and some bar chairs. They didn't even have a bed - they slept on the floor.
