Picture Limit

In the mean time...

Erica alerted me of something I've never heard before. Apparently Blogger limits the number of pictures you can upload to your blog. She has hit her limit and therefore must pay a fee if she wants to continue adding pictures.

I've been blogging since 2006 and this hasn't happened to me yet. I'm wondering if it's more of a space issue. My pictures are small files, taken with a point and shoot digital camera. I'm going to guess (let me know if I'm wrong, Erica) that Erica's are taken with a SLR camera and therefore would be bigger files and need more space.

Anyone else have insight on this?

  2. I had hit my limit early last year.

Picasa only gives you so much room. If you use Picasa to store other pictures (like you do on Flickr), then they are taking up more room and you will not be able to load more pictures on to your web. If you are loading large pics, you will probably use up more room too, however I think that Picasa and blogspot compress your photos a bit.

My solution was to get rid of all of my other albums on Picasa, freeing up more room for my blog. And then I opened up a new gmail address (and thus received another place for albums in Picasa) so that I would have another place to store my albums.

It is working for the time, but sometime in the future, I will have to either start a new blog using a new gmail account or buy more room from google.

At the bottom of Picasa, you will see how much room you have left. Mine says "You are currently using 241 MB (23.59%) of your 1024 MB."

  4. i dont know if this would work or not, but it's a thought to get away from uploading the direct files.....

would it be possible to upload to flickr or twitterpic and then just use the link when choosing a file instead of actually uploading the pics? does that make any sense? lol if its storage space that's an issue maybe that would solve the problem?

just ignore me if it doesn't make sense or it has already been mentioned.

  5. Charisa, you are right..most of my pics were with a huge SLR, although I just got a little point and shoot because I was getting tired of lugging that big ol'thing around.

Interesting idea "baby sister" has. Might look into that.

In the meantime, we do store TONS of our other pics in Picassa...could be part of the issue too.

    Thanks for the ideas! =)
