"Just in case..."

Limited time today and my brain is still sleeping, so I'll share a story that I overheard at Vaughn's music class a few weeks ago.

Two moms are talking about clothes. One mom admits to buying clothing for her little guy at a consignment shop...but, "I always put an undershirt or onesie underneath just in case". (Just in case of what, I'd like to know.)

If it bothers you that a stranger has worn a shirt that is now on your baby, why shop at a consignment store in the first place? Is the money you saved worth the mental anguish that this lady appears to be living with? Was she saying that just so the other mom wouldn't think less of her? Was she just a total nutcase? Maybe! But she was nice and since has moved on to a different time slot of music class, so we'll never know the whole story.

Happy Random Story Monday. And Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss. Vance's school is celebrating and it's "Dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character day". I have completed a half-ass costume for Vance. If I can get my act together I'll share a picture.

  1. So funny! Does this lady think there might be AIDS on the clothes and the onesies will protect her child? I just don't get the logic behind it.
I'm happy to hear that someone out there is more stupid than I am though, it makes me feel more normal. Thanks! :)

  2. I think your second line of thought is more correct - people are always so worried that others won't accept them, so I'm sure that the thought crossed her mind as she was telling the other lady about the clothes at the consignment shop something like "oops, she's looking down her nose about the consignment shop - better make up something quick so she will still like and accept me". UGH!
