I always say if at the end of the day you can find Jello down your pants you've been successful in having a good time.
That being said, Thursday night was a great night.
Vaughn's school hosted Messy Art Night and the kids had such a good time!
Each classroom was set up with something messy to explore.
In this room paper was hung all over the walls and in the center of the room was a table full of paint trays, brushes, rollers, sponges, etc.
This was the colored corn syrup room. Yes, you read that right. Tubs of dyed corn syrup were out for kids to dip sticks in and fling, drizzle, pour onto drop cloths.
The kids hair was covered in spider webs of colored corn syrup!
I didn't get good pictures of the Jello room (you can see it a bit in the above picture) or the shaving cream room. That was by far the craziest - tables piled with shaving cream and kids were given paint cups to pour into the cream and then play in it. It was everywhere!
I'm a fan of getting messy for art and learning's sake. It was fun to see everyone unwind, let loose, and have so much fun!
How do you get kids home that are covered in Jello, shaving cream, paint, and corn syrup?
Strip 'em down and ignore the weird looks for having nekkid kids in your car!
I'm thinking about hosting an outdoor Messy Art Day for the neighborhood kids in the summer. Kid pools full of colored shaving cream is sounding like fun! Hmmm...? Thinking cap on!
