Friday 5: Celebrating Simplicity

It's been a hell of a week for our country. A perfect time to be thankful for so many things - big and small.

Personally, it's been a long, slow, week for many reasons. We had lots of storms which cancelled outdoor activities and forced us to stay inside. Thankful for these moments with my kids.

To leave on a lighter note - the Milkshake Song has crept it's way into our house accidentally. I wasn't thinking and started singing it when Vaughn was playing with the toy milkshake. (See on the tray below?) Of course the kids took note immediately and repeating the lines I had just sung. (If they dig Milkshake wait to they hear Bossy. Wait until Vaughn discovers Lip Gloss by Lil Mama. It will blow her mind.)

At this exact moment of that night this is the text I received from my loving, traveling husband:

I'm singing rap songs with the kids and he's dining al fresco with a million dollar view. Every job has its perks right?

...............

Tonight I'll be toasting to Boston and Texas.

  1. Hope J.Mizac treated himself to In-N-Out while he was in Diego! I will be toasting to Bostom & Texas as well...so sad

  2. These tragedies really do make us slow down and enjoy the small moments, don't they? Hugging my kids a little tighter this weekend.
The girls and I started having "dance parties" in our kitchen a few years ago. It is getting more and more difficult to censor the good dance songs! Their fave is "I Like Big Butts". Oh boy!

  3. I'm with you on being thankful for special moments with my kiddo. I can't tell you heart ache I have felt this week. This event hit super close to home for me. SO extremely thankful all my friends that were running Boston were totally safe!! Still sickens me that others were not.

But boy did we do some toasting Friday night when we heard the wonderful news..........Praying that a lot of questions are answered.

So glad you are enlightening your kiddos with some Awesome classics. It is always important to be well rounded in the world of rap!!!! :)
