NaBloPoMo Day 5: Baby, it's Cold Outside. Give Me All Your Food.

It's that time of year when it's getting cold outside and all I can think about is food.

This recipe has been mentioned here before, but seriously, Smitten Kitchen's stewed lentils are perfect for a cold day. Pair it with some naan and you've got a meal. I want them NOW!

I've been seeing a lot of crock pot recipes for Lo Mein. I want to believe they're good and worth making but my gut is telling to just call in an order to Valley Wok. Anyone had any luck with making these?

How about Joy the Baker's spinach and artichoke grilled cheese sandwich? Perfectly good alone but maybe better with tomato soup.

For dinner tonight, I'm planning a version of this spaghetti squash recipe but the fate of it all is in the hands of a pair of basketball shoes. If everything goes well, the UPS man will deliver the shoes this afternoon, they'll fit, Vance will love them, everyone will love dinner, and we'll trail off into the sunset. If not, we'll head to the mall where I'll question the outfit choices of teenagers that look older than I do and gratefully decline tea samples from Teavana workers. (It has nothing to do with the tea and everything to do with samples that have been hanging out uncovered. Also, Justin has traveled the world and always brings me back tea. I've got a stockpile but am running low on my favorite from an alleyway in Shanghai. Let me know if you're heading that way. I'd like to put in an order.)

It's Wednesday and this week is zooming by. Hope you're enjoying it!

  1. I am glad I am not the only one! When it gets cold, for some reason my body demands 3000 calories a day. Just reading your post made me hungry, actually.
