I've made one proper gingerbread house from scratch in my lifetime and that was enough for me. Since then, I'm all about the kits (bout the kits, no baking) and hot gluing the suckers together so the walls don't fall down.
Trust me. No one will know the difference.
If any hot glue drips down, then you've made icicles. Bonus!
Know going in that it will get messy. Take a deep breath, roll up your sleeves, and grab a tube of icing. The fun and memories will outweigh the mess. (Which applies to most everything, right?)
It's also a good way to get rid of lingering Halloween candy.
To you and me this looks like a hot mess, but to the kids it's a masterpiece and that's what counts.
