#backtoschool

Summer break finally came to an end and the kids went back to school last week. While I love our lazy summer days together, being back on a schedule is always nice. Towards the end of  break, I was having a hard time keeping track of what day it was, and for me, that's a sign that it's time to get back to work. But not homework. My brain hurts from proofreading paragraph's already and I know the math problems will be coming soon. Ugh! On a positive note, the kids are settling in and both are enjoying school so far.

What I really want to talk about today are alarm clocks. That's what helped both kids get excited to wake up early for school. Rolling with the excitement, I went out and spent a bunch of money on fancy alarms with bluetooth speakers, remote controls, all the bells and whistles. They were so darn fancy that the kids couldn't use them. Vaughn's was so complicated that both Justin and I couldn't even work them. Not wanting to be outsmarted by a device from Potterybarn, I sat down a few times with the instructions, and each time I thought I had it, but no. No, I didn't. And, it was so loud, that even on the lowest setting, the radio was blaring and too loud for Vaughn to go to sleep to.

The day before school started I took them to Target and bought old school alarm clocks. Vaughn's was under $8, she can set it and turn it off herself, and she loves the different colors.

Vance's was under $15 and it works perfectly for him.

Moral of the story? Fancier isn't always better.

Vance is going to keep his old one because it also functions as a wireless speaker that he can take with him outside, but if anyone would like a great price on Vaughn's old one, let me know!

Happy Back to School!!!
