Fishin' for Comments

So far this week I've had 83 hits and zero comments. ZERO. Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for each and every hit I receive and don't want to make you feel like you have to participate, but throw me a friggin' bone people! Humor me! Ask questions! Start a debate! Make up a name, post anonymously, I dare you! I double dog dare you!

So, in the spirit of attracting comments, I'll throw a topic out. Holiday Traditions. I'm looking for some new ideas, so tell me what are your favorites?

Don't be a lurker! Comment!

Marth gave me your blog info awhile back and I have just gotten a chance to take a look. Nice work, "Martha Stewart." Love seeing the pictures of Vance and the chili didn't look bad either! No comment on holiday traditions--mine are long gone...

BUT...question for you...does Santa leave gifts wrapped or unwrapped? This is a bit of a debate in our house.

  3. Definitely unwrapped. When would Santa have time to wrap each toy?

  4. Dave, that's too bad about your tree...and the squirrel. Justin and I checked out the vacation ideas last night. Looks good. If you get a chance, check out doorcounty.com. We'll keep looking around.

I am for sure a lurker! I figured dave did enough commenting for the both of us. I love checking in everyday to see if anything new is posted. Vance is getting so big! No luck on our animal in the attic issue. Maybe he is dead, hopefully! Talk to you soon.

Hello from Texas! We have some ornament traditions in our house - each child has a different "theme" of ornament and every year they get a new ornament for their tree...Christopher has transportation and Colin has sports. I have also made ornaments with them every year to pass out to Grandmas and Aunts and Uncles, etc. My mom's family has the tradition of English crackers that we open before dinner - crackers contain a joke (which we read aloud), a toy and a paper crown (which we all wear and look ridiculous in). And Santa always wraps presents for us - isn't it just chaos if he doesn't??? Kristen

I am sure Santa personally doesn't wrap the presents. That is part of the elves' job description: making and WRAPPING toys. Who knows; just kidding! Santa is wrapping at our house this year.

I really don't have any traditions like the crown thing or annual cookie baking weekends. As a kid I always had my own tree in my room that had Sesame Street ornaments on it and now we put it in Carter's room, but that really isn't a "tradition." Help, I need a tradition!

Santa never wrapped his presents for the boys. Ours, for the boys, were always wrapped. Mother always made cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Christmas morning, and G and I always had a champaign toast with them while the kids enjoyed their Santa gifts. Later, after we all ate, we opened the wrapped packages. I also always made sure the kids either read or watched the traditional Christmas stories-Rudolph, Night Before, Frosty, etc. sometime during the Christmas season. Good traditions should take place throughout the month of Dec.- not just on Christmas Day. That puts too much pressure on the day. Enjoy special things all month. Give yourself some time. You will discover what is important to you and what is not. Love ya

You're right, Marth, traditions do develop over time and since we are new to this parenting gig I guess we will figure them out as we go along--I am not that worried about it truthfully--I know Carter will look forward to the holidays just as much as I did as a kid. You will be happy to know, by the way, that Todd still gets his cinnamon rolls every Christmas morning and we watched Rudolph the other night!

    Charisa,

I finally found your blog in my Favorites list...I love all the pictures! What fun you all have as a family! The kids are just darling and your son is precious. I just wish your dad enjoyed his grandkids a little more! I enjoyed reading all of your entries. What a nice way to share your life with your "far-away" relatives.
