Our washer and dryer were getting old. They were tired, grumpy, and beginning to disrupt the harmony of life around here.

Their first targets? Our sheets. The manipulative machines wouldn't let them be washed together anymore. Maybe they were jealous, but to have to wash the fitted sheet and the top sheet on separate cycles was just plain mean.
We put an end to their malicious ways this weekend.
Onwards to using less energy! (The old washer used 940 kWh per year. The new one only 167.) And onwards to happier sheets and clothes!

  2. I am curious as to how you came to the conclusion that you could no longer wash your sheets together. What was the washer doing to prevent this? Interesting.
New washer and dryer is very exciting though!!

That is a nice looking washer and dryer. I too would like to know how you figured out that you had to wash your fitted sheet and flat sheet separately. What a pain! Hopefully we can see you guys when you are in town!

  5. Lately, when I'd wash our sheets the water wouldn't spin out and the fabric softener wouldn't drain. It was the bulkiness of the sheets getting wrapped around the middle. Time after time of re-washing and re-spinning, I became smarter than the washer. Washing them one at a time seemed to fix the problem. Weird because it only happened with our sheets, no other sheets in the house or even a big load of towels.
