Chicken Wangs

Justin likes football and wings. It's not a secret that I don't like either. I do, however, like Justin so every so often I make him wings. It's my brother-in-law's recipe. I'm not sure where he got it, but I'm sharing it with you now.

What you do:

Preheat to 400 degrees. Salt and pepper the wings. If you're doing a big batch, it's best to use a throw-away aluminum pan. I just use a 9x13 glass dish, lined with foil and sprayed with Pam. Bake for an hour. The sauce is an eyeball sort of thing. For one package of wings, I do a little less than a cup of Frank's hot sauce and around a half stick of butter. You can adjust this to how you like it. When the wings are done, dump the grease out. Turn broiler on. Use tongs to dip the wings into the sauce and place back into the dish. Do not just pour the sauce on. I'm told it's all about the dipping. Place the dish back into the oven and broil for a few minutes. Take them out, dip again, and back into the broiler for a few minutes. Repeat one more time.

Again, I don't eat the suckers, so I can't speak from personal experience, but they get Justin's approval, and that's good enough for me.

Enjoy the wangs.

another way to to do it is to make 1/2 the sauce and put the wings in a bowl with the sauce...toss the wings, and broil them for about 5-8 minutes pull them out and flip em.

or just go by a frydaddy and get ready for the house to smell like wings.

  6. Your brother-in-law's wings sound delicious. The version I make comes from a gorgeous former co-worker of mine (a nurse). They make the house smell like deep-fried grease but they are OH, so good! If you'd like, you can decide for yourself if they're worth it (or rather Justin can):

    Chicken Wings

    Preheat oven to 350°

    1/2 C butter, melted
1/2 bottle Tabasco sauce (for mild wings)
    salt
    pepper
    25 chicken wings/drumettes
    vegetable oil

Combine butter, Tabasco and salt and pepper to taste. Coat wings in mixture and deep fry at 375° in a large stockpot or Dutch oven until golden and crisp on the outside, 5 at a time, 5 minutes each batch. Place in a 13"x9"x2" baking pan and pour last of the Tabasco mixture over wings. Bake for 30 minutes. Salt immediately when they come out of oven. Serve hot with bleu cheese or ranch dressing. (I make batches and freeze them. They're great gifts.)

  8. Delphi, I'm sure Justin would love your wings! They would definitely be a treat for him as I don't ever fry anything. (I have a particular nose and couldn't stand the smell of that in the house!) Thanks so much for sharing the recipe, I appreciate it!

Thanks for all the nice words, Terry.
