Weekend Update!

This wasn't the weekend for sports. Vance had 3 games cancelled because of the rain. One was called when we were already half way there (bummer) and another was called when he was suited up, we were packed up, and heading out the door. This brings another question, "What would it be like to not have to bring 8 tons of stuff to games with us?" That's a post of its own though.

Early Saturday morning a hummingbird flew into our garage, circled, and could not find his way out for about 3 hours. It's a miracle that he didn't end up in the house as much as the kids kept opening the door to check on him.

That blur is a wayward hummingbird.

The highlight of our weekend was Saturday. The weather was perfect for being outside so we headed to the apple farm early and ended up staying for the entire afternoon.

Time slowly passed as we picked apples, watched the kids ride rides, ate ice cream, leisurely sat and listened to live music while the kids played with sidewalk chalk and hula hoops for hours.

(that last part about the kids playing for hours? with simple toys like chalk and hula hoops? magical to say the least.)

We joked about staying for dinner too but left soon after Vaughn fell asleep on my lap. I don't think any of us wanted to leave though.

With the heat of the summer so intense, we all needed this cooler weather and it was especially nice to have it on a Saturday.

We made the trek home and parked ourselves outside again to watch the kids play, ordered pizza with instructions to "deliver to the back patio" and didn't come inside until well after dark.

What a perfect day.

On Sunday we trimmed enough bushes to fill 11 yard bags, planted mums, hung a fall wreath, and ate taco soup.

We're ready for fall now. Come on Mother Nature! Cooperate with us!

Hope you all had a great weekend too! Are you ready for fall too?

  2. BTW, it took me 6 X to get the "anti-human" code word correct...I KNOW I had it correct all 6 times, but it finally thought that if I wasn't giving up, I must be human!
