Thing To Do: Strawberry Picking!

Every year on

(our summer bucket list)

we write down strawberry picking and never end up checking it off the list.

Why? Because mid to the end of May is always busy for us and by the time I think to do it the picking season would be over.

Not this year though! Over the weekend we finally made it to the strawberry patch and did some picking of our own.

It's definitely not easy on your back and we joked that they should have raised beds for the older pickers. I think that's why the kids loved it - everything was at their level!

We ended up bringing home more strawberries than I know what to do with! Thinking I'll try freezing some for smoothies.

Glad to finally be able to check this one off the list. It was so much fun to do!

Next up on the ripening schedule? Peaches!
(Actually, it's blackberries, but I'm not a fan. Too many seeds!)

What would you do with an over abundance of strawberries?

  3. Oh I'm so jealous. Since we have moved south we haven't been able to pick strawberries and I miss it so. We did do blueberries last year (MUCH easier on the back) and they were SUPER yummy!!! When we used to pick we did freeze some for smoothies, I made strawberry shortcake (Logan's favorite dessert) Strawberry pie and don't forget the good old Chocolate covered strawberry. YUMMY!!! Enjoy your harvest :)
