Friday 5: Celebrating Simplicity

5 noteworthy and toast worthy happenings from the week.

Here's to a healthy and happy Vance.
I have yet to write his birthday post, but he just had his 8 year old check-up.

Here's to a little backyard ambiance.
I have yet to plant any flowers this summer so these will have to do. I picked these up on clearance at Target - cheap and cute, so when they're soon covered in pollen or get knocked down with an incoming baseball it won't be a heartbreak.

Here's to putting the kids to work.
They're finally getting old enough to help and not "help", if you know what I mean. Both kids helped with yard work this week and made the job get done faster.

Here's to saying "yes" more often.
Maggie Mason wrote about this awhile back and it hasn't left me. When it comes to the kids, I feel like I'm always telling them "no". Stopping and thinking about "Why not" before answering can lead to more fun and better memories.

Here's to the kids playing together. Nicely.
I hope this continues this all summer long!

Hope you all have a great weekend and Happy Father's Day to all those Daddies out there!

Cheers!
What are you toasting to tonight?

Those lanterns withstand everything. I bought some last spring and mine are still going strong and look good. I was happy to see Target had them again. I will be stalking the clearance to see if I can snag a large one.
