Meatloaf is scary no matter what shape it's sculpted into. I mean, it's a loaf of meat. How conspicuous does that sound? Anything could be in there!
I never thought I'd add Meatloaf Sculptress to my resume, but that's motherhood for you. It'll make you do all sorts of weird things. Last year, I thought the kids had grown out of spooky Halloween dinners and didn't plan one. Turns out they missed it, so I had to make up this year for last.
This meatloaf foot came to mind because I was out of all other ideas and meatloaf sculpting is fierce this time of year on Pinterest. Just hop on over there - meatloaf everything is being created because, like I told you before, it's the scariest food of all! Here's my masterpiece, shallot toenails and onion ankle bone and all. A nod to Not Martha, who I do believe started and perfected this whole meatloaf sculpting movement in 2009. (See her original meatloaf hand here). The base recipe is Barefoot Contessa's Turkey Meatloaf.
Yes, they ate it. Here's a little peak on how I decorated for Halloween. |
