Friday 5: Celebrating Simplicity

5 simple things from the week worth celebrating.

Here's to giant inflatable swans. They make me happy.
(If I had a pool, I'd fill it with these guys.)

Here's to 4th grade field trips.
(Life in the 1800's was the theme and square dancing was a part of it. Squirming and shrieking ensued because all of the cooties in the room. I had a blast do-si-do'ing though!)

Here's to all you youngsters. Enjoy your youth while you still have it.
(One day you're invincible, the next you take a walk and then wake up with shin splints. Still trying to process what exactly happened.)

Here's to the first softball game of the season.
(Vaughn played well and had fun. Score!)

Here's to Lilly for Target.
(Can't wait for Sunday! Although I hear a lot will only be available online, I'll still go and check it out.)

What are you celebrating tonight? Whatever it may be, Cheers!!!

  1. If it would stop raining here in Houston we could break our swan float out! I've been looking forward to Lilly for Target for months and so excited for Sunday ;) TGIF!

  2. Your list (minus the shin splints) had me smiling big. I had to look up Lilly Pulitzer as I hadn't heard of her before. Then, wham-bam, within ten minutes of reading your post and clicking on the link to Lilly for Target, I now have a cheerful, floral purse I want to buy. It looks like the clothes are almost colorful enough for Vaughn's taste. ;)

Oh, oh, speaking of which...on a recent post you had a funny excerpt about going to buy clothes for Vaughn with her and coming home with only one (very well suited for her) top. That post reminded me of my goddaughter who is also a fan of colorful and unique clothing. Her parents have found quite a few items Claire likes at https://shopjustice.com. (I'm not sure if they also have brick and mortar stores.) I just looked at the Justice website and it looks like the clothes are geared more for Tweens, which Vaughn is, thankfully, years away from. It may be worth your time though to take a look at the Justice site and keep it in mind for the future if you think Vaughn would be interested in the clothing.

    Have a great weekend!

    1. I'm aware of Justice but haven't taken her there yet. (They do have actual stores.) Trying to hold off as long as possible for that place! Thanks so much for thinking of Vaughn! Have a great weekend!

  3. Ice will give you only a temporary relief, Charisa. I had the same problem, my shin splints flair from like a dull sensation to like a ten when ever I ran, I received physio for it but the best way is to know what actually causes your pain in shins. I started to look for a solution and after some years I decided to collect all what I learned in that years of pain and from the people I helped (I'm a personal trainer). I have started a blog where I write articles about shin splints and other common runner's injuries, feel free to check it out! http://never-never-never-give-up.com

    :)
