Soup Truth

Might be time for a new microwave.

  1. I don't like a lying microwave, that's for sure. Though I have to admit, it was only when I was in my mid-40s, when my mother came to live with me for medical reasons, that I learned from her how to sure fire tell if the food inside the bowl/cup/dish/whatever I'd just microwaved was going to be hot: touch the bottom of the whatever. If it's hot, the food will be. This method has never failed me. (Disclaimer: may not apply to lying microwaves who tease with bubbles that should promise warm soup.) ;)

    1. Thanks, Delphi! I've tried this once and it seemed to work!

    2. Yay! I'll pass that on to my mom. It can get a little awkward to do (like when it takes two hands to get something out of the microwave) but we've been known to pull something out and turn to somebody else with the dish, saying, "Touch the bottom. Is it hot?" It's not foolproof, but I do have less grumpy trips back to the microwave to heat something I was ready to dig into a little longer. :)
